June was an extraordinary for myself. I had the privilege of doing three retreats in a row. Adventure was the first one, Detox the second, and last one was Pamper. The first two retreats Katka Cervinkova participated in, which means that we walked!!!! In fact we walked 155km those first ten days, with yoga twice a day. Adventure was all about walking to the retreat spot, that was 100km in four days! Detox upped the notch by intensifying the connection to self and disconnecting from wifi, and phones, and all junk! SO RAW!!!The final one, had the most participants, Katka left me and Mirka S joined me. As we walked through the lower highlands, we saw how dry the land is. We finally reached our destination a small village ZBUDOVICE 10km from Caslav. And the first thing we had to ALL endure was that there was no running water. We had to fetch our water for all our purposes(washing oursleves..note not bathing) and flushing the toilet, cooking, washing the dishes, drinking water...it was such a humbling experiencing and learning. We really immersed ourselves into understanding how much water we waste. It was least comfortable when there were ten of us at the house and only one bathroom, constantly being mindful of having water for the other to flush, and wash with...
While I was busy from the crack of dawn til 11pm, my YG crew held the fort! The people were trying to scramble and find time to finish their 30 day challenge! Come check out all our teachers! They are all professionally trained, and all our classes are designed to focus on YOU! We have classes running all summer long in our gorgeous studio. We support your practice hands on and also by noticing what is possible. We don’t practice with you ON PURPOSE, so that our focus is on YOU, and not YOU on US!
Daily practice can lead us to unimaginable places. When we decide to commit to being open, to being kind, and GOOD LISTENERS we show up every day! We come when we are tired, and we are there when we want to give up. We gotta show up when it’s challenging and when it is easy. It is EVERY DAY work. It is so demanding. We at YG recognize this and want to honour your commitment to showing up by making prices affordable, the space inspiring and the content meaningful.
What could be more meaningful then inclusivity? Holding space, creating space for justice, and all shapes, sizes skin colour, sexual orientation. This type of work is the hardest. Showing up on our mats and facing our limits is one thing. Yet, showing up in REAL LIFE (also includes mat) and not being afraid of the work, of our commitment to eradicating illusions and injustices. This is a really TREMENDOUS task. It is much easier to purchase something with Black Lives Matter and to check our racism in comparison to the U.S. It is much harder to admit our own racism here towards gypsies. The racism in Czech is bountiful. People are fully expressive of their fear and superiority over others. We have a lot of UNLEARNING to do. When we live in fear and decide that we are more intelligent, more capable, we are more egotistical, and greedy...all of this shows us we are RACIST. We are homophobic. We are sexist...ageist, and mainly it shows us WE ARE NOT DOING THE WORK. We are NOT creating room for change. And it is essential that all people people who show up on their mats honour change: the change of mood, of prana, of possibility. And therefore, we know we have a lot of work ahead of us to create change.
The New Normal, the part that we are all still adjusting to, MUST include social justice. This is one of the most positive benefits of lockdown, people were glued to their phones, and started to pay attention, to see that the system (also here in Europe). Many people have been supportive and actively engaged in dismantling systemic racism, yet there are so many of us, who have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us. Personally, this work is the most gratifying work. When we are able to see that our “lifestyle” our stereotypes, generalizations, and beliefs, perpetuate systemic racism, and sexism, we are presented the possibility of change. We OBVIOUSLY need to check our privilege. Let go of our COMFORT, and keep showing up, keep doing the work. Change, the conversation, the channel, change the status quo. People who are oppressed by our ignorance, comfort and worst of all by our INDIFFERENCE have been fighting and showing up, have been demanding us to change, are we listening? Are we open? Are we going to show up and do the work every single day??? I sure hope you are on board. This is the best future we can hope for.
We raise our fists up high and stand united in solidarity to eradicating systemic racism, and sexism. Until we are ALL free NONE of us are Free.
Big Love...Christina and YG Team
