They require your full attention and kindness and vigilance. The greatest transition one can make is to be conscious. To take responsibility and be accountable, reliable, and aware. Naturally, it is much more encouraging when these transitions occur with a community, a team, a family, someone with you. Yet, there are moments in life where we gotta face the music alone, and detach from the patterns, the webs which kept us going in automatic behaviour. Which brings me to the state of the world.
It is difficult to read the news. Many people have altogether stopped doing so. Other people have created their own version of news, and it is strenuous to say the least, to decipher where is the thread that links us to REAL NEWS? How do we know what we are reading, learning, consuming, sharing, believing...how do we know if it is real?
19 years ago, when 9/11 happened, one of the major changes that occurred, besides the brutal, invasion in Afghanistan and Iraq, was the altering of journalism in terms of what news was allowed to be dissemenated. The way in which we got information, and digested news. This becomes so problematic if you are not in the know. If you are just going about your day, going to work, paying your taxes, bills, trying, to be a “good citizen” and participating in what is being asked of you...none of this means that we are necessarily CONSCIOUS though. So someone is always guiding us, leading us somewhere, and we can be alert, or not.
