Figuring out how to build community is one of our
main goals in the coming year. I realize that this
word is over used especially in marketing and in
social media. For me, community is a safe place,
where people hold similar values, and can come
and plant seeds, plant a garden. It is a place that
actively cultivates and encourages growth, learning, sharing, it involves support, love, compassion,
fierce determination and an insane amount of accountability.
A COMMUNITY CAN NAVIGATE A PROCESS OF TRANSFORMATION OR A SERIES OF PROCESSES. IT'S A COLLECTIVE OF PEOPLE LISTENING TO EACH
OTHER, INTERESTED IN ONE ANOTHER,
WANTING THE BEST FOR EVERYONE.
Obviously, people have very different experiences
with communities.
If we are going to create one, let's be honest, the
Yoga Garden Studio, architecturally, and as a space,
it is phenomenal. It is open, spacious, full of light,
gorgeous gardens, and beauty all around. The truth is,
the community that grows from there, can also be as
influential, progressive, and inclusive.
Yoga is all about transformation and change.
I really appreciate all the courage it takes everyone
to come out of their shell and be in a social setting.
I appreciate all the effort everyone makes to plant
trees, seeds, and to take a moment and say...Yes, to
being alive in a positive way. Yes to positivity. We
are encouraged to be frightened, to not trust, to
consume, and proceed. It is very commendable when
people gather, and resist. It is also very special when
they can share their experiences.
Yoga Garden is working to be known for its OFF THE
MAT community building events. These events are
seasonal. This season was extra tricky, but our Klarka
and Sebik managed and built a super team of mama's
when the weather and covid situation permitted. Twice a week moms came with their babies in strollers
and worked out in luzanky. This upcoming season,
winter 2022 we will be making bolsters at the studio.
We sew them, stuff them and make them all, just
like the first winter when we opened, we knitted our
blankets. We get together and make things instead
of going to buy more things, because frankly we all
have too many things. If you are reading this and
you thought to yourself, no I don't...(have too many
things) well I high five YOU!
